About me

Connecting software logic with design empathy.

I’m Alejandro Vasquez, a Design Systems Architect and UX & AI Interface Engineer with a degree in Systems Engineering. I design scalable systems and build the technical bridge between Figma and production code.

My story: where design and engineering met

My career didn’t start in a dev shop or a traditional design agency. It started while I was studying Systems Engineering: to pay for university, I worked part-time as a graphic designer. Over time, clients began asking me to design web and mobile interfaces, before I even knew the discipline had a name: UI/UX design.

Once I discovered that world, I got certified and went all in on user experience. My training in logic, databases and systems architecture became my biggest advantage: I understood exactly how developers think and work when they build my designs.

The natural next step was UX Engineering. I asked myself: “If I understand the system’s logic and can design components optimized for development, why not build the architecture that connects both worlds myself?” I specialized in React, JavaScript, Design Token structures, W3C standards and automation.

Today, with AI tools, this hybrid role matters more than ever. I use AI to speed up workflows, translate design into code, and act as the catalyst between product, design and engineering teams.

How I work

I don’t see design and code as two separate stages, but as one continuous technical and experience process.

Systems Thinking

I don’t design isolated screens. I build reusable, scalable UI architectures that cut development time by up to 50% and keep web, AEM Cloud and native mobile apps consistent.

Design-to-Code Fidelity

Automated pipelines with Tokens Studio, Style Dictionary and Figma Code Connect keep design tokens and Figma components 100% in sync with production code.

Technical Empathy & Collaboration

I speak the developer’s language and understand the designer’s priorities. That removes handoff friction, cuts unnecessary iterations and speeds up visual QA and accessibility (a11y) reviews.

AI Acceleration

I use LLMs and automation to scaffold components, write technical documentation and turn legacy systems into clean Figma libraries.

Beyond the screen

When I’m not defining design tokens or debugging scripts in the console, I like to apply engineering to the real world:

Workshop & mechanics

DIY projects, mechanical tweaks, mods and suspension work on my 4Runner.

Custom woodworking

Designing and building functional furniture for my home, optimizing space with hydraulic mechanisms and everyday engineering.

Smart home & hardware

Setting up home automation, networking and custom tech infrastructure.

Career snapshot

With 8+ years of experience, I’ve led UX strategy and Design Systems architecture for high-impact international companies and initiatives such as Dollar General / WBINNOVA, Continuum, Project Waste Not and MyStrengthBook.

Systems & platforms

AEM Cloud, React, React Native, Design Tokens, HTML/CSS, Git/GitHub, Figma Code Connect.

Testing & QA

Automated QA (Maestro, Cypress), accessibility (a11y) testing and UI audits.
